How far is the race?
30 Kilometres (18.6 miles)
Why is the event on March 29th?
Shipping into Hamilton Harbour usually starts early April. The Around the Bay Road Race takes place the last Sunday in March to avoid conflicts with the lift bridge.
When is next year's run? Do you organize other running events?
The Around the Bay Road Race will take place on Sunday March 29, 2009. We do not organize other events, but we do assist many other races.
What kind of weather is typical for the end of March?
The average temperature for the end of March in Hamilton is a pleasant 4°C. Average rainfall for the month is 51mm.
Is this event a Boston qualifier?
No, The Around the Bay Road Race (since it is not a Marathon distance) is an excellent warm up for the Boston Marathon but it is not an official qualifying run.
Who receives medals?
All participants in the 30K, Relays, 5K, and Walkers receive a medal.
Do you have a walking section for the road race?
Yes. For the 30k, walkers start one hour before the Running race starts. The walkers start at 8:30am on Sunday morning. The roads however, are not closed until 9:30am so the walkers must abide by the rules of the road until the runners catch up to them.
